Ireland Strengthens Position in Global Dispute Resolution with ICDR Launch in Dublin

A new international arbitration centre has been launched in Dublin. It is considered to be a significant step in strengthening Ireland’s position in dispute resolution globally.

The International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR) Ireland will function as a commercial arbitration hub for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, operating as an international branch of the American Arbitration Association.

This is expected to facilitate the dispute resolution between the US and European businesses, portraying Ireland’s growing role towards the European Union for American companies. With around 1000 US firms operating in Ireland, this is seen as an extension of existing commercial arrangements.

An advisory board led by Irish barrister Cian Kelly will be featured by the centre along with a panel of experienced arbitrators for international disputes. Experts have noted that the stable legal framework of Ireland and a strong arbitration community makes it an attractive forum for resolving cross-border disputes.

This highlights Ireland’s rising influence in the global arbitration landscape which would eventually lead to enhanced confidence among the international businesses in ICDR Ireland.
