A new update for 2026 has been announced by the Council Member, Society of Construction Law, Singapore, featuring two articles. First, “Building for Net Zero in Singapore’s Sustainable Construction Landscape,” which examines certain standards which supports the transition towards low-carbon development. It discusses how sustainability is not just some hypothetical achievement, but it is a reflection of various obligations engraved in a contract and is central to a project when it comes to delivery of the project, risk allocated, and procurement.
Second being, “Exploring the Construction Industries of Singapore” which compares the common law and the civil law, the two completely different markets, in various legal landscapes. It also discusses different types of projects and related regulations, supporting practitioners involved in cross-border arrangements.
In his message, he has also mentioned that the society has introduced its first SLC(S) Protocol for the Use of Experts’ Joint Statements in Arbitration. Various legal articles has discussed and mentioned it. Even Hon’ble Justice Philip Jeyaretnam has commented on the same, mentioning that it portrays both, the international best practices as well as the strength of the construction arbitration community. He is of the opinion that this will strengthen the quality of the expert evidence in arbitration, seated in Singapore and beyond.
It would also be a part of discussion at the inaugural APIEx Seminar in Kuala Lumpur, Reimagining Expert Evidence in Construction Disputes – Protocols, Practice, and Perspectives.
At last, the Council Member has shown his gratitude towards the people who supported the society and its mission.
