HKIAC Joins International Arbitration Centre Alliance Strengthening Global Arbitration

The Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre(HKIAC) has joined as a member of the International Arbitration Centre Alliance(IACA), a network which brings together the top arbitration centres from various parts of the world. This alliance focuses on strengthening cooperation amongst institutions, making it easier for the professionals working in arbitration to perform across jurisdictions.

As part of this development, an initiative has been introduced by the IACA known as the Global Passport. This is designed to help the arbitration practitioners who travel more often or who work in different countries. Through this system, they will be able to use the available services at the arbitration centres which are participating even when they operate outside their primary location. These services include administrative assistance, spaces to meet, hearing rooms and work areas.

Several arbitration venues have already become part of this alliance. These include the ADGM Dispute Resolution Hearing Centre in Abu Dhabi, the International Dispute Resolution Centre in London, the Paris Arbitration Centre by Delos, the Arbitration Place in Toronto and the Maxwell Chambers in Singapore.

Including HKIAC in this alliance portrays a much broader effort within the arbitration landscape to strengthen global connection among dispute resolution institutions. By creating such a network of easily accessible facilities across different jurisdiction, this initiative makes the international arbitration proceedings, more convenient for the practitioners who handle the cross-border disputes.

Overall, this move highlights the importance of the institutions, collaborating in international arbitration and is a step towards better mobility within the global arbitration system.
