The Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC) has announced six new appointments to its Proceedings Committee, Appointments Committee and Council, reinforcing its commitment to maintaining high standards in international arbitration and institutional governance.
The Proceedings Committee welcomes President of the International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA), Audley Sheppard KC, and Edwina Kwan, General Counsel at the Australasian Centre for Corporate Responsibility (ACCR). The committee oversees important decisions as to procedure under the HKIAC Rules, including consolidation, joinder, expedited proceedings and challenges to arbitrators.
Jessica Fei of King & Wood and Matthew Hodgson of Linklaters joined the Appointments Committee. The committee is responsible for appointing and confirming arbitrators, determining tribunal composition and overseeing HKIAC’s Panel and List of Arbitrators.
Adrian Lai JP and Andrey Gorlenko have also been appointed by the HKIAC to its Council which guides the institution’s strategic direction. Secretary-General Joanne Lau said the appointments further strengthen HKIAC’s institutional expertise and support its continued growth as a leading global arbitral institution.
Established in 1985, HKIAC has administered over 13,000 disputes involving parties from 120 jurisdictions.
